Better than a bouquet of roses :)

I was delighted to find two packages waiting for me on the counter today after my workout. One, a box of starter plants for my greenhouse from my sweet boyfriend in Portland and the second, a care package from my mom filled with goodies :)thank you mom and C! Always good to feel loved!

Run On the Beach of the Cook Inlet

It is 60 degrees and sunny today in Ninilchik, so I had to go for a run in the great outdoors :) I ran down to the beach access and watched people dig for clams and saw groups of people riding horses along the shore.

My Greenhouse Project

When you live and work at the same place, it is crucial that one must find some sort of an escape. Mine is my greenhouse. When we first pulled up to our new abode I was estatic to see a greenhouse in the yard and even more happy to find out it had been abandoned several years prior, because this meant it could be all mine :) After consulting with Vivian, I found encouragement on brining it back to life. One trip to the Homer Farmer's Market later, my project began.
I should of taken a "Before & After" photo because cleaning the place up made the results much more impressive.
I still need to collect some more veggies, but here is the start!!!

11 days already?!

So the first week and a half here has FLOWN by! Erin and I arrived in Anchorage on the 19th and we were picked up by Sherry, a wonderfully energetic lady Erin knew from the previous summer. We were exhausted from an entire day of flying, but I was totally thrown off by the bright sunshine in the sky at 10:00 pm... We picked up pizza and hit the sack early.
The following morning, sherry's husband Dick drove us to Ninilchik since it was on his way to Homer, where he would be fishing for a week. We passed by some of the most spectacular mountains and glaciers I have ever seen. He dropped us off at the General Store in town where our new boss, Vivian, met us and drove us up the hill to the lodge.
The lodge is beautiful. A rustic looking lodge with all the amenities :) after a tour of the lodge and the guest cabins we were shown to our néw abode- just a humble little lighthouse on a bluff overlooking Denali National Park and several volcanoes that lie within those boundaries!!!
In is pic, I am on the porch at our lighthouse and you can see Redoubt Volcano in the distance. At 10,000 ft jutting up right from sea level is way more impressive in person.
